The Tower in Hen Muir

Upon a great bluff above the fishing town of Hen Muir is an imposing tower of light grey granite. With it's accompanying manor house, barracks, stables, and storehouses it is the seat of the regional government. The Lady Genvalur Netyoive is the Marchioness responsible for protecting the border against Tuathanan. She delegates security to her captain of the guard Alastar Concohair, while she focuses on her study of arcane traditions.   The Gach Guard, also known as the Grey Janissaries, is the local infantry of elven warriors loyal to Genvalur. They are found often at the tower, barracks and local pub The Green Mimic.

Purpose / Function

As the seat of government in Hen Muir it is frequented by townsfolk needing issues addressed, as well as by visiting nobles. It is used by the Marchioness for both her arcane interests as well as governing duties. A magically enchanted banner waves majestically from the docking balcony high in the tower, displaying her personal coat of arms.

Alterations

The tower itself has had multiple additions, as well as several outer buildings have been added over time. When it became an aviary the small slitted windows of the manufacturing tower were expanded to large picture windows allowing far more natural light into the tower. Accompanying this the manor house was added to the grounds.   The military made the most alterations. Two barracks, a stand alone stable, a mess hall and two supply buildings were added surrounding the tower. An ancillary reception hall was added to the base of the tower and was later modified to a kitchen and parlor. One side of the tower was structurally strengthened to add the airship docking platform on the top story. The central open column had a full size elevator added for transferring troops and supplies.   The Cult of Keneseranalat removed the elevator and built the numerous bookshelves. This is also when the magical book scorpion Tablet was known to inhabit the library.

Architecture

The tower is made of an aetheric dampening granite based concrete with a metallic tri-pillar and lathe interior. The enchantments embedded within the walls prevent scrying from outside the building and prevent any open flame from remaining kindled within the central circular tower. Every floor has a dozen gems along the outside wall which will glow on verbal command.

History

Originally a manufacturing tower of the magically used resin known as Tealtcra, the tower has had a number of owners. After crystalline Tealtra forms moved to a non drop manufacturing process, the owner Niren Seamist turned the tower into an aviary. Generations later it was retrofitted as an airship port for the Minam Empire's Military.   After the The Plague of Silmora the tower was used with lighting rods to re-catalyze Mystic Engines. This was of limited success as the process slowly destroyed the engine housing. The cult of Keneseranalat moved in decades later to use the mystical shielding of the tower as protection for their library.   When the cult crossed the Duke of Gozed he sought out a group of mercenary troubleshooters known as the Solemn Society to handle the issue. The group proved themselves and their wizard sought to claim the tower for her own use. Duke Yomen agreed and granted Genvalur Netyoive the title of Marchioness and now it serves as a lookout post for the Golim border.

This is really cool! If I may, what tools did you use for making the map of the tower?

I hand drew the various objects and scanned them in. Then I used Pixelmator Pro for the mac.
