Tower Ghosts

Shortly after the Great Flare most of the Towers of Wind were disrupted until the Order of Bamboo moved to make repairs. During the destructions there were rumors of people residing in or near the towers that just vanished. Given the general chaos at the time it is hard to confirm what happened. However many believe there are souls of individuals residing in the towers and are capable of traveling from one tower to another. Several horror stories of haunting specters who waylay travelers are popular, as are the occasional lost lover stories.   One well known story is that of Cavin and Myrla. Cavin was a young fabricator with a promising future, but his family had contracted The Plague of Silmora and he moved away from them in fear that to see them would end his life. He was able to find a remote family in the hills who took him in. They had a daughter named Myrla, who was betrothed to the local businessman's eldest son. To complicate things Myrla and Cavin fell in love, but knew they wouldn't be able to live together without running away. So for the second time in under a year Cavin planned to disappear, but this time with his beloved. They met late at night beside the local tower of wind, and it was on that fateful night that the great flare occurred. They disappeared and later when her young brother was sheltering from the storm in that same tower, he saw her spectral form appear. She and her lover had become ghosts, greatly desiring reunion. Both became lost among the towers communications and have been searching for each other among the various towers. However they may only move from one tower to another when a communication is being sent, making their reunion long overdue.   Critics of this story state that it is actually propaganda from the Order of Bamboo, as to reunite the lovers more towers must be repaired and reactivated. Others claim it is a harmless love story. Others who have studied the issue say it is possible, but without evidence it is unclear that souls actually were trapped.
