Cookbook of The Ancients

I hunted all across the world for relics of the ancients, something to tell me who they were, what they valued, and, hopefully, why they left this world behind. After twenty-seven years of fruitless research, I finally found something--a tome deep within the ruins of the Ashmouth. I spent years more trying to decode their language, a collection of complex symbols with no relation to any language still used today or any dead language I've ever heard of. But I did it. Through steady research, I translated a dead language, taught it to myself well enough that I could write a book of my own, if I wished. I cracked the book open to read with fresh eyes, hoping to find out about some ancient, advanced technology, or perhaps the purpose of The False Peaks , or to learn what exactly Essence is. What I found instead was a beginner's cookbook.

This is a collection of beginner's cooking recipes created by the enigmatic ancients.

Historical Details

Public Reaction

People were in awe of my discovery when I revealed that I had something written by the ancients themselves. They, like myself, thought it might contain clues as to the development of their technology, or their whereabouts, or any number of mysteries they left behind. When they found out it was nothing but a cookbook, I became a laughingstock. My colleagues have since disavowed me, and the university denies any relation to me and any responsibility for my education. Historians, on the other hand, appreciate my effort in decoding the language of the ancients and see the full value of my research, understanding that it will allow them to more easily translate any future documentation.

Legacy

This will forever be remembered by many as my greatest failure.
