Pegasus

Winged horses much desired as mounts.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Pegasi resemble horses with feathered, angelic wings. Their coat is most commonly white or cream-colored. More rarely, they can have any coat configuration from piebald to black.

Genetics and Reproduction

The logistics of their reproduction is identical to that of normal horses, but perhaps because of their increased intelligence, finding a pair willing to breed and establishing circumstances where they will breed is trickier.

Growth Rate & Stages

A foal reaches adulthood around age five, but if rider training does not begin much earlier than that, it may never accept a harness.

Behaviour

Exceptionally intelligent creatures, Pegasi are known to be very... selective. If they weren't such excellent mounts and immaculately Good creatures, one might even call them picky little fusspots. Most famously, to begin training a young pegasi, the would-be rider must present it with a worthy bridle. A bridle studded with gems and woven from gold has the highest chances of success.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While nonmagical, pegasi demonstrate perception abilities and intelligence above their ground-bound cousins.
