Wood Elf

Wood Elf is a term for those Elves who have found themselves away from the old faith and forming new Greenpacts with the spirits that inhabit the woods of the material plane. This name however is just a moniker as Wood Elves have made pacts as far as the Western Marches and as deep south as the deserts Kalapesh. 
The greenpacts vary according to their patrons, and many pacts forbid the Wood Elves of their region from forging metals that are otherwise harmful to the fey of these lands. In exchange for protection of the wilds the Wood Elves find themselves blessed. These blessings allow Wood Elves minor acts of magic or even subterfuge within their wild regions. 
There are Wood Elves who live outside the wilds. These Wood Elves are known as Wanderers and often find work as hunters, mercenaries, and woodsmen. Few know the wilds better than a wood elf and any group of mercenaries is often thankful to have one.
Wood Elves are known to be hardy, short, and nimble. Enjoying mostly positive relations with humans, gnomes and halflings. They constantly find themselves as second class citizens in high elven lands. Though the greenpacts are removed by several generations from the old faith of their high elven kin they are held with disdain for leaving The Journey and practices of the high elves. 
They often find themselves in border disputes with humans, giants, and ogres. In warfare Wood Elves are known the employ hit and run tactics. Allowing the spirits and creatures of the wild to take the front lines while their druids, rangers, and sorcerers wreak havok on vital enemy targets with precision. As such it is rare to see them partake in warfare but small groups of Wanderers often offer their services as scouts during times of war.
