Gumwing

Gumwings are a very simple lifeform found in the skyfolk homeworld. They are simple gelatinous discs that drift on the wind, ranging in size from 0.5mm to 5cm across, feeding off dust in the air and insects they collide with. They are believed to be one of, if not, the most primitive lifeforms in their world, and possibly the oldest surviving one. Analysis of their genetic makeup has shown that they share a common basic genetic code with all other species in their world, so may serve as a common ancestor to all animals present in the Sky.

Anatomy

They are simple thin discs, made of transparent gelatinous flesh, that is slightly thicker at the rim and the centre. At their core are a number of red cells that pulse with a slight bioluminescentce, the purpose of them hasn't been verified but they are assumed to be part of a very simple nervous system.
