Skywood Tree
The Skywood Tree is a fast growing tree found on the sky islands of The Open Sky known for it's lightweight yet sturdy wood and blue-green leaves.
Skywood is farmed in and around Sky Folk settlements, it's wood being used in construction and furniture. Its quick growth allows it to grow to around 10 metres in just over half a year, while it doesn't grow much higher than that, it is often left to mature, allowing the wood to become stronger and denser and for the tree to start producing seeds.

Basic Information
Anatomy
Skywood trees are tall and narrow with few branches except at the top, resulting in a nearly bare trunk with a bush of leaves at its peak. In younger trees, the branches are fairly short and stiff resulting in a fairly round head of leaves, in older trees, these branches become longer and droop down, giving a mop-like effect.
Genetics and Reproduction
After around 7 months, the skywood tree will blossom with clusters of greenish-blue flowers. A short while after blooming, the flowers will develop into sycamore-like propeller seeds that will be carried on the winds across the world.
Growth Rate & Stages
Once the tree sprouts, it will rise quickly to its full hight at around 10 metres in 6-7 months. After reaching its full height, the trunk will thicken and the wood will slowly become denser. All growth with slow down until around 2 years where the growth will be largely limited to foliage and seed production.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
It is found primarily on the floating islands of The Open Sky, preferring islands with a slightly gravely soil. They can be found on a majority of islands in the world due to their seed's ability to distribute themselves far and wide on the world's strong winds.
