Earldom of Essex
Essex, the old realm of the Saxons, is a marshy land of inlets and waterways long under the sway of Wessex before the coming of the Danes. Essex is now a den for pirates and raiders, freshly settled by incoming Scandinavians from the continent. Small pockets of fearful Saxons still cling on to normal life among the reeds while fearing the wrath of their new overlords.
