Kingdom of East Anglia

East Anglia an ancient realm that had thrived for three centuries after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Much of northern East Anglia is flat, low-lying and marshy fens forming the bulk of Britannia’s south-easterly coast.   East Anglia was once a powerful Kingdom but has slowly weakened through war with its neighbors and repeated Danish raids. The Kingdom was the staging-point of the Great Viking Army’s invasion, they arrived and convinced the King to aid them with their attack on Northumbria before turning their blades against East Anglia itself. East Anglia has become the region where many of the Danish warriors settled after the Battle of Edington. Under the rule of the powerful Danish leader Guthrum (or Æthelstan to use his new Christian Name) it is the most powerful Kingdom of Danelaw with the most organized defenses and contains one of the largest cities in all of Britain.
