Kingdom of Jorvik
The Great Viking Army of Ivar the Boneless, landed in East Anglia in the year 865, from there they marched north through Mercia to York, known to the Anglo-Saxons as Eoforwic, which was captured by the Great Viking Army in November 866 and became the new capital of the Viking Kingdom of Jorvik. Ivar's brother Halfdan and a commander in the Viking army became the first King of Eoforwic and it was renamed Jorvik. Jorvik with its formidable Roman walls, still standing after 700 years; was a strong location, preventing any would be attackers from dislodging him from rule.
The Danes have now ruled Jorvik for over a decade and it has become one of the largest Danish settlements in Northern Europe with goods and commodities from as far afield is Central Asia flowing into its markets making its rulers and townspeople wealthy and prosperous in the process. Halfdan died five years into its settlement and now a ruling council of Danish Jarls control Jorvik as a council, but few believe that will last forever. Adding chaos to this mixture, Ivarr Ivarsson has recently arrived with his men in Jorvik and rumours are already circulating that change is on the wind.
