Kingdom of Strathclyde
Strathclyde is a kingdom of the Old North that can be traced back to the Fifth Century and the Celtic Britons. The realm was formerly based at the fortress of Alt Clut but its Kin was driven out of the fortress by a Viking attack in 870. The current King Artgal was taken captive and reportedly killed in mysterious circumstances. The kingdom reformed further into the valley of the River Clyde under the leadership of his only son Run.
The people of Strathclyde have merged somewhat with the Vikings over the last few years, adopting some of their culture and mannerisms while retaining their own brittonic culture and language. These changes have made them occasional allies of the Danes, allowing Strathclyde to extend its tendrils south into Cumbria the seat of the ancient kingdom of Rageth to the south now that Northumbria can no longer keep them in check.
