Kingdom of Sudrland
To the west of Alba lies Sudrland, the Kingdom of the Southern Isles. Comprising the southern Hebrides, these scattered islands, are sparsely populated. Bearing the full brunt of the Atlantic weather they are not lands suited to the less-hardy. Starting in the early ninth century they came under attack from Norse Vikings who drove the native Dal Riata nobles from their land, and they fled towards Alba.
One of the oldest of the Norse settlements, there has been a great intermixing of Gaelic and Norse people that has created something new. These Gaelic vikings raid along the coast of Ireland and down through the Britton Kingdoms with impunity.
