Kingdom's End Chapter 10 The Walls of Jorvik Report

General Summary

Now securely under siege, King Guthred decided to celebrate the victory by drinking Mead and feasting much to the warbands irritation. They believed the fight was far from over but had little way of convincing Guthred. The Warband believed Ivar was up to something, so moved through the city and checked on the various defenses. They noted a few flaws and quickly worked to shore them up and noticed that the men in Ivar’s army were not celebrating nor drinking into the evening. Sensing something was wrong but having no evidence they decided to go to the celebration only to find themselves attacked by some of Ivar’s men in the city. A bloody fight ensued and the Warband was victorious. They found that Ivar’s men had been hiding in the sewers of the city since one of his boats entered the city a few days ago but their orders had been changed to attack the Warband now that they had Ivar’s son. One of the notes the had on them contained a stored curse, that befell Aesc. The Warband took the heads of the men’s heads to the King but found him otherwise occupied and instead spoke to the leader of his men Alvis who let them know they should hide the heads as it would be hard to prove in their state that they had been Ivar’s men as non-lived to confess. The plot had been stopped, now all that was needed was to confront Ivar for the exchange.
