General Summary

The next day, the Warband sought out the wise Kelton who had journeyed to the city after they had left his village. They found he had set up a medical hospice in case of attack and was assisting as a doctor in the market. Ketillogh convinced him to help and use magic to ask about the curse, teaching her in the process his ways. Asec’s curse involved the death of a King, which deeply concerned him, and a plan was hatched to always avoid having him alone with any Kingly figure. They also ran into Oswulf, an old friend of Ketillogh who was in the market selling snake oil cures. Ketillogh took pity on him and asked him to join them when leaving the city as he was not fairing well on his business. She always had a soft spot for him. The Warband headed to the exchange and witnessed King Guthred being offered a deal by Ivar. Ivar’s men had failed to take the city in the cover of night so instead he offered the King a tempting alliance. Ivar would lend his support to his claim to the throne and give him a percentage of his raids in exchange for safe harbor in Jorvik and some of his men to bolster Ivar’s numbers. It was time for the Warband to make their exchange.
