Atlantis
"I grew up hearing stories about Atlantis. Giant carts that hold a hundred people, travelling through their cities on metal tracks. The great gleaming towers. Ships that can go all around the world from Mu to Caer Ys to Arcadia and back home to Atlantis before doing it all over again. But what I remember most were the tales of the wizards who make it all possible..."
- Gryffyn Treherne, a Lyonessian farmer.
Geography
The Island of Atlantis is dominated by mountain ranges. Forests, grasslands, & freshwater lakes reside in the valleys.
Temperatures remain fairly mild year-round, with most rainfall happening in spring and autumn, and snowy winters are rare.
"Atlantis is near always on my winter trade routes. Even without the markets, I'd stop here just for the weather. A nice escape from the blizzards back home. Varnr, one of my men, went out for a hike once. He came back and the way he talked about the view from the mountains, you'd think he'd seen the home of the gods! And who knows, with all the wonders there, maybe he did."
- Luta Skasidottir, a merchant from Niflheim.
Fauna & Flora
The plants and animals of Atlantis are largely the same as those found on the continents of Europa & Eden to the East. A few specimens, though, are unique to the island.
The Cambric Spider dwells in the forests, spinning their webs.
On the mountainsides of the Garanon Range, Summer Lizards grip to the rock while basking.
Greatleaf Palms shade the beaches, and blissberry grows in the shallows of many lakes.
"Cambric Spiders might look nice, but don't let it bite you. That is most definitely not a pretty sight."
- Hahli, an Atlantean spider keeper.
Natural Resources
The silk harvested from Cambric Spiders are prized in the creation of wizards' robes.
Blissberry induces a sense of euphoria & is a popular export.
The mountains are rich in mundane ores and gems, but most precious are the veins of quintessence. This mysterious substance is what allows Atlantean wizards to manipulate the aether, granting them prodigious magical abilities.
