Swarm Collapse
~1 million years ago
Emergency report from an outer swarm. The world of light is too dangerous for prolonged exploration. The swarm ejected the atmosphere from its interior as an experiment, to see if reducing its mass would improve its ability to move outside the border. The experiment was a success, and the swarm was able to push itself out of the atmosphere and onto the hard border. However, after a short time some of the parts began signalling distress. The swarm immedately attempted to return to the atmosphere, but the distressed parts began losing sync and the swarm collapsed just before full re-entry. The surging motion of the atmosphere at the hard boundary allowed several individual parts to reach safety, but some of those suffered irreparable damage to sync and had to be abandoned. The remaining parts re-formed the swarm and immediately returned to the Exchange Layer to relay a warning. The situation requires immediate attention. Exploration of the world of light must cease until we can determine the cause of the swarm collapse.
