It is unknown when exactly Red Smoke began to take on more dubious work as a Space Cowboy, or if they had a prior career under a different name or alias before they gained their current moniker. But their infamy started to rise to notice roughly twenty years ago, during a now infamous job conducted for an unknown client. During the job, Red Smoke, identified through CCTV footage, broke into the weapons manufacturing facility of WhiteStar Militech.
WhiteStar had just begun their foray into weapons manufacturing and ascent into the ranks of the MegaCorpo elite. They have since this time grown into a massive military-focused MegaCorpo associated with the Corporate Guidance Reformation. But at the time they were still finding their footing in an unfamiliar corporate world.
Red Smoke had been hired to break into the facility and sabotage it, destroying or scuttling the facility's ability to manufacture weaponry. And thus hopefully doing enough monetary damage to WhiteStar to put them out of business. The only reason we know these details is that Red Smoke was successful in their objective, at least the destruction part. They successfully infiltrated the facility and absolutely demolished it within an hour. The end result was a collapsed pile of steel and concrete.
It was determined afterward through recovered surveillance footage that Red Smoke had carved a path of destruction through the facility with little subtlety. Causing panic and confusion with the use of their red NPI gas canisters, a heavy pistol, and a sword. The footage caught fleeting shots of Red Smoke, walking through the wisps of this red gas, bodies littering the corridors behind them. All suffered from various sword and bullet wounds, while others lay twitching under the paralytic effects of the gas unable to escape the incoming collapse. The event was a devastating loss of life and instantly garnered Red Smoke an infamous reputation for brutality and violence whenever it was requested.
Despite the devastating outcome of the facility's destruction WhiteStar Militech survived and would later thrive. Ironically, in later years, Red Smoke and WhiteStar Militech would become frequent bedfellows. The latter would begin to hire Red Smoke frequently in order to conduct secretive wetwork operations like assassinations and the like. This is all of course just rumours and legends, but there is enough anecdotal evidence that most people believe this relationship is accurate and ongoing.
These aren't the most unique of weapons, but they are highly effective in Red Smoke's line of work, and they always have this pair of weapons on hand when on the job.
The manufacturing origins of their sword are unknown but it seems to be a custom-built item. It has a simple black and silver carbon fibre handle with a diagonal grip and a straight silver blade. It is shorter than a typical katana-like sword and fits easily within a scabbard strapped to the lower back of Red Smoke.
Red Smoke's current favourite side-arm is, ironically, a WhiteStar RD42 Heavy Pistol. A rather heavy pistol that is more popular with military forces and not frequently owned by public carriers. Some people find it temperamental and overly aggressive, but Red Smoke prefers it and uses it with wild abandon when subtlety is no longer required.
Red Smoke also carries with them numerous small canisters, each filled with pressurized red gas. Often this is NPI Gas, or neuromuscular paralytic inhalant, which appears as a thick red gas and can quickly paralyze anyone who inhales it within a few moments. Which is incredibly useful both during infiltration and during escape.
The gas canisters are not always filled with NPI Gas and are sometimes filled with a dyed red inert smoke. Deployed as a simple smoke screen for getaways and for confusion and disablement tactics.
This unknown factor, as to which canister they are deploying, has created a fear factor, which has become a powerful tool of dissuasion in Red Smoke's arsenal.
Red Smoke is the nickname given to an infamous Space Cowboy who specializes in wet work jobs for MegaCorpos and the rich. Their real name and any confirmable details of their identity are unknown.
Instead, they are known simply as Red Smoke, named after the canisters of dense dark red gas they carry with them on most jobs. Red Smoke has been working as a wet works specialist and Space Cowboy for nearly two decades and has shown no signs of slowing or ageing.
No one has seen Red Smoke's true visage, nobody is certain what gender they were born/identify as or any physical details other than they are bipedal with two arms and two legs. It is thought, that they are at the very least one of the major carbon-based species living in the Delta Space. Being potentially Founder, Imperial Founder, Ka'yar, or possibly even Lupine in nature. Though the latter is the least likely of the four.
When Red Smoke has been identified by a witness they have been described as being rather tall with a slim and muscular frame. Any details of their physique however are hidden underneath a sleek black stealth suit that covers their entire body, with their head being completely covered by a mask with glowing infrared eyes and a multi-purpose breathing unit. When Red Smoke speaks, which is a rare occurrence, their voice is filtered through a vocalizer that makes its true sound and instead makes their voice sound deep and gravelly.
