Ethel’s Cafe

Cozy Hangout

A quiet cafe owned by a sweet old lady, that is a nice place to just hang out in. Located in Eastview close to Southside.

Purpose / Function

For people to buy hot drinks and dessert foods, and to hang out with friends.

Design

Inside is rectangular, with cream and brown walls. The floor is made of reddish tile. The walls and ceiling are plaster.

Entries

The main entrance, the door to the kitchen and the kitchen-to-outside door.

Sensory & Appearance

Smells of the coffee and baked goods that it sells. The colours and decor are really pleasing on the eyes. It is very bright, but in a soft way, with lots of windows for natural light.

There are cozy paintings of cottages and farms and things like that on the walls.

The walls have been painted and the place has been fixed up a little a few times over the years. It’s been made a bit more modernized.

The more adventurous guests to the city do sometimes find it, and this generally helps with making their experience positive.
