Kthulhule’tra (Coo-lu-lestra)

Magical alien species made out of pure darkness. Cannot live outside of stasis in Earth-like atmosphere without a bonded host to provide nutrition.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Usually takes the form of a patch of darkness, when attached to a host it takes the shape of the individual.

They can morph into an amorphous tar-like blob at will.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce asexually and can even create a childlike clone of their host, assuming they have one during the process.

Every 2 decades or so, the species will collectively go into a sort of ‘heat’ known as the Tthular to begin the reproductive process. This heat can create cold or flu-like symptoms in the host.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The main source of nutrition for the Kthulhule’tra is a compound of soul dust and carbon (name unpronounceable by the human tongue) that is plentiful in the atmosphere of their home planet, which is in itself alive. Since on planets like Earth the atmosphere is inanimate they must bond to a living host.

They can eat darkness and must consume the shadow of their host to bond to them.

Meat is also a very important part of the diet and they will eat any animal, including other members of their hosts species. They will routinely eat anyone or creature that would seek to harm their host.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Kthulhule’tra see/hear/taste/smell/feel (they perceive it as all one sense) all that their host does, albeit amplified. They can also sense vibrations through the ground.
