Anoomenon : Towers of the Bad Theologists
Between 2734 and 2744 AF, a group initially describing themselves as the Sceptical Mathematicans, having been defeated in the Grammar Wars, arrived as refugees and exiles in the city of Anoomenon.
Labeled the Bad Theologists by their enemies, they took the name for their own. Under their leader, Kiril Rikovitch, they determined to continue their heretical research program.
In 2742 AF, under licence from the city authorities, the Bad Thologists were granted rights to construct their own laboritories in the form of towers dedicated to particular aspects and passages of their arcane lore. They began this work immediately, aided by their servants and soon the first of the towers of the bad theologists began to glow with the eerie green light that would be their signature. The light is called "Carabolean Aura" and is apparently generated by some process explained in a passage of the Codex of Yoth-Sathlyu. By adopting this practice, the Bad Theologists were making a statement about the success of their work and that they were not afraid to use what they had learned.
Within each tower, one scholar concentrated their efforts on some specific problem within the greater task of translation. In matters of day to day living they were supported by the "underclass", a group of loyal followers who lived in chambers at the base of each tower.
Ultimately there would be a total of one hundred and nine of their towers in Anoomenon, but over time, some of them would fall into darkness. By 3180 AF when the events retold in the story of a Gift from the Sea : Story Home took place, only sixty seven active towers remained.
