Skrurtulgripper

Skrurtulgripper fish are a feared predatory species that live in the northern oceans of Magicians' End and are common in the coastal waters of Zisleth.
They are remarkable for possessing a pair of arms with talons which can be used to tear and grip their prey, in conjunction with rows of very sharp teeth. Skrurtulgripper fear nothing and make frenzied attacks when enraged. They have a primal cunning when engaging in conflict with humans, understanding that they can drag them into the water and drown them. Fishermen who first encountered these creatures, quickly learned to fear the prospect of netting one since the fish would not only fight for freedom, often successfully cutting a net, but seemed to possess a vengeful desire to destroy the boat and the sailors.
Until swimmers grew properly wary of them, the fish would hunt humans caught in the open in the water and pull them down to their deaths.
Skrurtulgripper were unknown until the Age of Shadows and are thought to be an introduction from the Dark Domains. Their presence is a strong deterrent to fishing, and certainly to swimming, in the cold northern ocean waters even to this day.
