The Lair of the Snow Angel

In the heart of the Ice Reaches, a desolate and bitter wasteland where time itself almost seems to freeze, there is a mystical cave known as the Lair of the Snow Angel. It lies hidden within a cavern of shimmering ice, deep beneath towering glaciers, where the very air is clouded with ancient magic.
In the centre of this frozen sanctuary lives the Snow Angel, an ethereal being who holds the deep secrets of another age. Her wings, pure as snow, stretch wide, their tips brushing against the icicles that hang like daggers from the cave’s ceiling. Her hair, flowing like the lightest of winter mists, cascades down her pale form, blending with the icy ground beneath.
Once she was mortal, a powerful sorceress named Serathiel and the lover of the great sorcerer some call Forgotten Rycasse. When they fell to quarrelling, their love turned to hatred and they fought a great and mighty duel. Defeated at last, Serathiel made this dwelling place for herself in the far north of the continent of Idalka and there she resides still, hidden away in a place so remote that it is said only those who are lost in the wastes and beyond any hope of return can ever find it. Thus the Lair of the Snow Angel is also called the Lost Retreat.
Over the centuries, Serathiel's heart grew colder until her humanity vanished, and she became one with the ice — her emotions replaced by the unyielding silence of the frozen land. Few dare to venture into the Ice Reaches, but some have sought the Snow Angel not for her beauty, but for the promise of power. If anyone could pierce the veil of ice and rekindle her heart's lost warmth they might perhaps learn of magics that only she now understands. None have succeeded, for the Snow Angel always rejects any plea to engage with the mortal world, her cold gaze and silent lips offering only the icy breath of the storm.
But now something is stirring. An old force, darker than the bitter winds, creeps through the realm once again, a force Serathiel used to love and that can no longer remain forgotten. Forgotten Rycasse has returned. In the cold depths of her frozen heart, the Snow Angel might soon find a reason to leave her lair.
