The Second Popular Ascendancy

The Second Popular Ascendancy was a democratic anti-magical political grouping which modelled itself on the First Popular Ascendancy. It assumed power in 3642 APC, a little more than seventeen hundred years after its namesake, bringing the Time of Terrors to an end. The Second Popular Ascendancy retained control over most of Magicians' End for over six hundred years, until 4289 APC a span of time considerably longer than the duration of the First Popular Ascendancy, which had lasted a mere hundred and twenty years.
Modern historians often think of this period as an island of stability between two volatile, chaotic and bloodstained eras, preceded by the Time of Terrors and followed by the Age of Shadows.
