Whisperwraith
The Whisperwraith is an ethereal creature born from the stolen breaths of the dying and normally confined to the archetype known as the Gravehollow, unless malign Agents or Powers allow it to travel to vulnerable Evolutions. It lingers at the thresholds of life and death, drawing its power from the final, desperate gasps of those on the verge of perishing. This entity can siphon life energy through breath, draining vitality from its victims with a single inhalation.
The Whisperwraith is a shadowy figure, its form shifting like mist, with a barely discernible humanoid shape. The only constant feature is a pair of hollow, glowing eyes and a mouth that never closes, constantly emitting faint whispers. Its breath is cold and carries the voices of its previous victims, murmuring in a chorus that can paralyze with fear.
Abilities
Life Drain: The Whisperwraith consumes the breath of its victims, weakening them with each inhalation. The more it feeds, the more corporeal it becomes, until it can physically interact with the world.
Breath of Fear: The creature can exhale a cloud of breath that induces paralyzing fear, filling the air with the echoes of its victims' last moments.
Invisible Passage: It can move silently and unseen when it holds its breath, allowing it to pass through walls or vanish into thin air until it finds a new target.
Breath Mimicry: The Whisperwraith can mimic the voice and breath patterns of anyone whose breath it has stolen, luring victims with familiar sounds or false reassurances.
Weakness
The Whisperwraith can be repelled or weakened by pure air or wind magic, as a forceful gust can disrupt its form. Additionally, forcing it to "breathe" pure, untainted air—such as from sacred or enchanted sources—can drive it back to the Gravehollow.
