Onyx Griffon Racing Chariots

My thanks to Dino Romero for inspiring me with the idea of a performing vehicle
The Onyx Griffons are a famous group of traveling chariot racers. They travel all around Ostari traveling from town to town, putting on chariot races at each town they visit. Many of their shows are free or fairly inexpensive thanks to their wealthy patrons, including governments, that can be found all throughout Ostari.

The Onyx Griffons are considered the best chariot racers in all of the world and credited with starting the Ostarian love of and passion for chariot racing. Only the best racing charioteers are allowed to join the Onyx Griffons and it's considered the highest honor a racing charioteer can achieve. Onyx Griffons undergo intense training in order to not only put on a good show but also how to do so safely while still making the show entertaining and dangerous looking.

Many smaller towns don't have a dedicated race track so the Onyx Griffons have to make do with what they can. Larger cities that the Onyx Griffons travel through usually have a race track both for the Onyx Griffons and other charioteers. The Onyx Griffons have inspired quite a few other groups of traveling chariot racers as well as many chariot racers that remain in one city.

Onyx Griffons must travel lightly as their small chariots are primarily built for speed and durability, not storage space. Their sleek, sporty chariots are also distinguished by the large black griffons painted on the front of the chariots' covers. Some charioteers add additional designs onto their chariots based off of their wins, personalities, or racing personas.

Propulsion

The chariot is pulled by two horses who are directed and steered by the chariot driver through long reigns. The horses are attached to the chariot basket by the yoke.
