Theran's Stylus

The Voice of Gantos

Theran and his writing stylus have served under two sovereigns of Gantos , writing countless decrees and correspondence for Sovereign Ruran even after her death. Theran's work has not stopped after Ruran's death; he officially is the primary advisor to her son, but in practice it is Theran who rules. Theran wrote most of Gantos's important political documents while Ruran was alive and the current sovereign is completely uninterested in ruling, making his transition from advisor to secret sovereign relatively easy. The amount of political documents Theran himself wrote was so much that many other sovereignties thought of Ruran as a figurehead and a fool. Actually, Ruran ruled in her own right and Theran was fiercely loyal to her, so much so that even now he continues to pursue similar policies as the dead sovereign.

The stylus now serves a secondary purpose of writing correspondence to other important political figures, most of whom wish to rule Gantos like his uneasy ally, General Segan, or the current sovereign's younger siblings. Theran prefers to communicate to others through writing, emphasizing his ability of literacy which the others lack and showcasing his power. In addition to its power as a writing implement and symbol of power, the stylus has a specially designed casing with a razor sharp tip that can be used as a dagger, ensuring that Theran is never as defenseless as he seems.

Significance

Theran has used the stylus during his entire tenure as an advisor and has grown quite attached to it; he's hardly ever seen without it. In addition to being a personal symbol of power and dedication to Ruran for Theran, the stylus has become a symbol of Gantos and it's power or lack thereof to other sovereignties. To Theran's enemies it has become a symbol of his arrogance and how much influence Theran has over the current sovereign and government.

I love the history you've included here, and the fact the stylus can also be used as a dagger.
