K'aarak

The K'aarak's home planet of X'aarix was once a planet spotted with hundreds of tundra-covered archipelagos. As primitive life sprung from the slushy seas, however, a spire of rock came hurtling into the planet's developing atmosphere. Without air resistance to slow its decent, the spire slammed into the planet and transferred all the kinetic energy of its cataclysmic speed into the ground. The heat of the impact boiled the seas and spouted gas into the air, in the end creating a turbulent atmosphere with raging storms that battled their way across the planet.
The fledgling carbon-based species that had only begun life were now left homeless. Vagrants and nomads on their own planet, for if they stopped in any one place long enough, the storm would catch them. Without proper infrastructure, entire villages would be destroyed in hurricane winds atop the sandy plateaus that used to be islands. So, they moved.
As their species evolved, the K'aarak never knew a stable home. Even when tribes of the bug-like people would make a full rotation around the planet, the angry storms that crossed planet's surface would have left the area a ruin of unrecognizable rocks and sturdy plateaus.

Physical Description

Lithe, four-armed bodies are covered in chitinous plates that slope across the bug-like K'aarak's bodies. With a keel-like chest that juts outward in a sharp angle, the K'aarak resemble a blade as much as a being. While not a truly warlike people by nature, their harsh environment has molded them into tough, adaptable survivors. Beneath the chitin shell of their back, two pairs of diaphanous wings sprout from their shoulders, capable of carrying the K'aarak through the air in bursts of buzzing movement. At the edges of their limbs and around the corners of their clacking mandibles, colorful feathers sprout in tufts that comb backward and aid in their stability within turbulent conditions.
Often, tribes of K'aarak have their own patterns and colors of paint that they apply to the smooth plates that push back on their foreheads, though those outside of their particular bubble rarely understand any meaning of these.

The K'aarak have the following bonuses for their focus:
Natural Defenses
The creature has a hard shell or sharp talons. The alien has a base Armor Class of 15 plus half their character level, rounded up
Unusual Movement Mode The alien can fly under normal gravity conditions.

K'aarak Language

The K'aarak language is made of hisses and clicks made with various portions of their bodies and wings with small trilling noises made within their upper throats. While most other races are unable to truly make these sounds, there is a simplified version of the language that all K'aarak are capable of understanding that is more widely able to be mimicked.
