The Formation of the Galactic Assembly and the Dog Head

After centuries of drawn out civil war, the galaxy was toeing the edge of destruction. Born out of necessity, the heads of all races within the conflict were drawn together on the Hesoi home planet of Shisoi. After years of deliberation and debate during a ceasefire, it was decided that the galaxy would be sectioned out into small sectors to be self-governed by one of the species of the newly formed Galactic Assembly. Far from Earth (as it was left behind with the invention of the spike drive), the portion given to the Humans was an untamed frontier on the fringes of the galaxy, later known as the Dog Head.

These sectors are self-governed, but still beholden to galactic standards and laws, voted on within the Galactic Assembly and ratified into law by the final arbitrators of any dispute: The Galactic Council.
