Draconic Ancestry

You have draconic ancestry. Choose one type of dragon from the Draconic Ancestry table. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by the dragon type, as shown in the table.

Breath Weapon

When you take the Attack action, you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of a magical energy in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d8 damage of the type associated with your Gem Ancestry on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. This damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (3d8), 11th level (4d8), and 17th level (5d8).   You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Damage Resistance

You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry.

History

While the mousekin were a created race from the Tanglebrier Forest, their scaled cousins the Dracomus are a further evolution of that race after intermingling with those of draconic blood. Resembling a larger version of the diminutive mousekin, the Dracomus maintain their bipedal rodent stature and display elements of draconic races, scaled and many have wings, while others have larger claws more suited for climbing.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

How the Dracomus views other races (for common races)
Dracomus get along with the other races fairly well but seem to get along better with races more closely tied to the dragons and the Mousekin.

Dwarves - “No one can outdrink a Dracomus, except the Dwarves”
Elves - “It’s easy to take time to decide on an action when you live to be 400 years old, so if you need a fast decision, don’t ask an elf.”
Humans - “Humans tend to not like that which they don’t understand, which happens to be a lot of things.”
Mousekin - “Yeah, I would be jealous of a Dracomus if I were a Mousekin, we are similar, but clearly further down the evolutionary chain.”
Dragonborn - “They have the benefits of being part dragon, but don’t have the cool wings that Dracomus do, so are they really a dragon?”
“I am just a mythological creature, after all. I technically shouldn’t exist"   —Maggie Stiefvater
