Anatomy
Stuffie take the form of large animated plushies, often with cavities accessible via zippers, velcro openings, or similar methods. They are stuffed with a magical fiber derived from fiff wool, which is often also used for any fur they may have. Their cloth hide is durable, and glass beads they may have, such as for eyes, do not shatter easily like their mundane counterparts. When their stuffing is transmuted into sand, the sand is typically crafted from powdered dragon scales. The cavity can be used to store items, and, should the size difference be great enough, keep their partner safe.
Reproduction
Stuffie are typically created personally by Huati, the God of Law, born from plushies, blankets, pillows, and similar items well-loved by their owners. Stuffie are created to protect their owners at all cost, both in the short term as a guardian, but also helping their owner and master adjust so that they can, if possible, survive without needing the stuffie's help. While huati is the primary force in the creation of stuffies, Nee, the God of Cuteness, also had a hand in their original invention, and can create them as well. Stuffies can also be created through various rituals.
Racial Magic
Stuffie have various powerful abilities, the most basic of which being their enhanced strength and durability, and the ability to sense threats to themselves and their partner. Stuffie are able to transmute their stuffing, alternating between a fill-wool-based fiber, and a dense sand of powdered dragon scales; experienced stuffie can sometimes transmute select parts of their body rather than the whole of their stuffing. Most stuffies are equipped with telepathy. Stuffie gain additional powers based on what they were created from, and who they were created for. Should the stuffie's charge be slain before the sacred duty of guardianship is complete, the stuffie will be slain as well.
Stuffie are able to draw power from magical objects stored within the cavity of their body, using the magic as their own; this includes any entities that may be within the cavity as well. When a stuffie and an entity within the cavity are in sync, and they focus on the telepathic link between them, the entity can use the stuffie as a conduit to cast their own magic, with the protective instincts of the plushie-guardian as a failsafe to help control the magic, allowing younger, inexperienced partners to learn to control their magics; this link can also allow the entity to control the stuffie's movements as their own, practicing martial combat.
Personality Tendencies
Stuffie are protective and loving at their core, but start life with a simple personality based on who they were born to protect. They exist to defend against short-term threats, as well as prepare their charge to be able to survive in the world without the stuffie's protection. Their personality grows alongside their experiences in the world, typically transitioning from simple, golem-like guardian, all the way to sentience. When the charge is deemed, by Huati, as being able to be independant from the stuffie, not requiring the protection, the stuffie's sacred duty is complete, and they are rewarded with full sapience, becoming a full-fledged person with a full range of emotion and freedom, no longer bound to the person they were created for; despite being free, most stuffie will remain with their partners as equals and friends.
