Personal history

Mallow spent his formative years living in the city of Baldur's Gate with his parents, Basil and Rosemary Frey during the school year. He spent his Summers living with his grandparents, Herbert and Willow Frey, just outside of the city. His parents promoted learning and hard work, and his grandparents promoted curiosity and fun. He began medical school to follow in the academic footsteps of his parents, while wishing for a life filled with more magic and adventure. For his independent study period, Mallow requested to be assigned to an adventuring guild. He was assigned to the Beasts of the Lamb, a far out of the way, low ranking guild, who's leader was named Pan. The same name as the god Mallow worships. He's not sure if it's the same Pan, but he finds the idea very amusing.

Mental Trauma

Can be summed up with "Everything is fine!", spoken with a strained smile. He hasn't had much trauma in his life, as much as pressure to perform his absolute best.  Is ignoring thinking about what could've happened to the City of Glass, the time he lost in a coma, and all the fey souls trapped by the red flowers.

Intellectual Characteristics

Mallow is well spoken and formally educated. He enjoys research as much as finding ways to bend rules on technicalities. He also enjoys being creative, with a special fondness for stories.

Morality & Philosophy

Rules are all well and good, but life is so much more interesting with a little bit of harmless mischief! So long as you're not hurting anybody, why not have a bit of fun rewriting the end of that religious text? It got the story all wrong anyhow. Enjoy life! Live how you please! To do anything less would be a travesty.

Taboos

Disrespecting elders. Wanton violence and coercion.

Social Aptitude

Comfortable in all sorts of social situations, whether striking up conversations with strangers on the road, partying at a bar, jumping onto stage to be an announcer, to a quiet discussion between friends. Even in the social situations he's uncomfortable in, like a thesis defense at school, or a high pressure high society gathering, he knows how to speak and behave in a way that's expected of him.

Mannerisms

Mallow is nearly always smiling. His posture and manners are all dignified and proper until he feels at ease, at which time he'll break out his relaxed silliness.

Hobbies & Pets

He's not the best at it, but Mallow still enjoys sewing and embroidering his own clothes. Writes poetry and short stories on occasion.

Eloquent and polite, spoken with a clear, light British accent.

Kaero's Bird of Prey

Who would have thought? By going after some bandits, we uncovered the truth of Kairo's mark, and the ramifications of who touched it first. Was it just chance that it was Laylee? It doesn't feel like it. She's at the center of a building fantastical adventure, I can feel it. I hope I can come with her. In three days, one of Kairo's hunters, Falcon, will be returning to accept Laylee's answer. Will she be the prey, or the predator? It's a heavy choice to make. Poor girl is stressed out of her mind. Being prey doesn't suit her... But I fear for her if choosing predator means she must hunt the other contestants who declined to participate in the Wild Hunt. I wish Nana and Popop were here. They might have stories of the Hunt, and how to circumvent the rules of the conscription my friend has found herself under. There must be some way to turn the game in our favor. I must be as crafty as the fox.   P.S. I MIGHT GET TO GO TO THE FEYWILD SO SOON!!! Granted, having a friend dragged to the Unseelie court against her will isn't how I imagined it happening, but I knew I would get there!! Oh, Nana and Popop will be so proud! I'll figure out how to move back and forth from this adventure, and I'll take them to see all the places they've told me stories about! The great rising waterfalls that you can ride up, the singing toads, the mushroom houses, the rainbow glades, the seahorse grand prix, the pixie prank parties! Aaaaah! This is so exciting!! I wish there was time to ask them which places I should check out first. Obviously they probably don't want to enter through Kairo's court. Kairo's welcome leaves much to be desired. Such bad manners, tut-tut. In the morning, we should all pool our knowledge of the Feywild to build our gameplan.   P.P.S. Wolf bites hurt quite a lot. Let's try not to do that again, shall we?

The Happy Mask Salesman

Tonight. Was. Fantastic! Oh, I just have to tell Nana and Popop all about it! It might be a little difficult with the blanks in my memory, but I'm sure they'll have ideas on how to dress up the story for mother and father. Don't want them to worry more than they already do about me. The glasses I got from the mysterious Happy Mask Salesman are simply fantastic!! They create colors I've never seen all around me! There's so much variation, even among the leaves and sky! Is this what everyone sees?! And at dark! I'm not completely night blind anymore! This will surely be incredibly helpful. Magical items seem to have auras when viewed through my new spectacles as well! Very handy. Especially so because several of the other items my squad received seem exceptionally dubious. I need to keep an eye open for any unusual new behaviors, just in case.   I do wish I could remember what stories everyone traded away. I don't feel like I traded anything too vital? But then no one else seems to know how important anything was that was traded either... Nana and Popop would have my ears if I was too reckless with such contracts. "For the Fey, their Word is their Bond." Though I suppose technically, the Salesman insisted he wasn't Fey. Interesting.

A New Quest

It's off to fight some bandits for squad four! Apparently saying we'll take care of an issue while wearing our Beasts of the Lamb pins creates a sort of binding contract? I was unaware we had to be so careful with our words. Is it not polite to say what will assuage the fears of the downtrodden, and then decide what the best course of action should be? Or is perfect honesty merely necessary for guild business? I get the sneaking suspicion that Nodda and Pan have significantly stronger ties to the Fey than I first imagined, given how they spoke of our inadvertently accepted pro bono quest. Just who are you, Pan??

Pink Demons

Auld Gretta was lovely. It was like being back home at Nana and Popop's house: full of homecooked food, good stories, and warm hospitality. Popop's garden is better though. Not that there's anything wrong with orchards and cows, but I do prefer the almost untamed nature of the colorful flora that Nana and Popop cultivate.   There were some rather brutish tall fellows assailing Gretta's farm. Rather rude, stealing everything down to their own couture from the townsfolk. Nodda mentioned they were trespassing and breaking old agreements. A fight ensued, though I was hardly worried since Gretta had already dispatched one of the ruffians prior. I may have released a few too many stockpiled injuries onto one of the fellows. He was quite aggressive, and in my personal space, but legs really shouldn't bend that way. Whoops. One of his comrades fled into the night, rasping something about returning to the Queen, and someone by the name of Side exacting retribution. Worrisome. I do hope Gretta isn't harmed.   Carts are HEAVY!! I realize that should be obvious, but I've never tried to move one by hand before! Lim was invaluable with their assistance. I cannot fathom how difficult it is to move something even larger like a train car. Perhaps they build them on the tracks?   Laylee is as anxious as ever. I think the fight unsettled her. I told her some stories of the Feywild to take her mind off any unpleasant stress that might be lingering for her. She said I am more "proper" than she expected of a cleric of Pan... Am I doing something wrong? She said it was alright not to be loud all the time, but I still find myself wondering if I'm not living up to what I could be. Should be? Mother and Father would be pleased my manners aren't slipping, but... should they be? Aah, thinking about such things always makes me feel so conflicted. I do want to make them proud! But am I suppressing myself by doing so? Is that bad? It weighs heavy on me... Hopefully sleep will help clear my mind.

The Journey Begins

Well the past few days sure have been eventful! After weeks of arduous physical training, and relatively minor injuries needing healing, something exciting finally happened at the Beasts of the Lamb! I was beginning to worry the serendipitous name of the guild leader was the only fun thing at this guild, and I really was assigned to this particular one as punishment. But oh, happy day! Something unexpected occurred! A rather bizarre, fantastical phenomena of magic burned through the doldrums of training. A mark of the Fey appeared! Right on the ground! Laylee was the lucky one to get to touch it before all its magic dissipated. I'm a little jealous. If I hadn't been so concerned about disappointing Nodda, it might have been me. I should show more initiative in the future.
