Personal history

Displaced by the Shadow Schism, they found home within the ring of fighting pits and gladiator stadiums across Faerun. Hopes that their glory may one day lead them back to House Phiarlan, knowing though they may never be asked to return. They fought tooth and nail to prevent the house from splitting. Having failed they removed themselves from the Demesnes in shame. On their own volition of all circumstances, only now years later do they regret abandoning a place they called home for so long. Will they find their way home head held high or instead with their tail between their legs? Can they reunite the houses? Who will they find in these lands to help rally their cause?   She spent several years making a name in the gladiator stadiums in Baldur’s Gate. They made a moderate wage to stay within the city for about a dozen years, until they were defeated by an outsider. This outsider’s eyes reflected iridescent pain and rage, in the deepest sapphire blue. Natalie. Towering Goliath in worn leathers and scars head to toe. Natalie’s hair was shaved on the sides, and her thick hair was french-braided to her waist. Their limbs seemed to move as if they had eyes of their own. Fighting Natalie in the colosseum was the most thrilling experience. So, fulfilling, challenging, even passionate. Qiphyra would not take no for an answer, Natalie needed to be theirs.   They built a strong relationship, both in business and at home. This continued for 6 years, until Qiphyra found Natalie with another person. Tangled together like a mess of yarn, tossed into an alleyway to rot, as they swapped spit. Qiphyra had no thoughts beyond, they must die. And so, they did.   Naturally, Natalie tried to leave. Qiphyra could not have that. “I have nothing without you. I can’t go back to Shadowfell. I’m nothing,” Qi said quietly, nearly a mumble and completely out of character.   Natalie said no words as they packed their items and began for the front exit to their small apartment. Before she could grab the handle to the door she turned to Qi. A small smile frosted in pain, “The world is a big place, my Aries. But it doesn’t revolve around you.”   Qiphyra blinked, and their double-bladed scimitar was in Natalie’s middle, jammed deep into the door in front of her.

Failures & Embarrassments

Feeling of not belonging when they in fact do belong to an established household in the Shadowfell, House Phiarlan.

They're embarassed by the politics surrounding the conflict within their household which led to the formation of House Thuranni. Lord Elar Thuranni d'Phiarlan was discovered to have plotted the murder of the heads of the Five Nations within Shadowfell. Lord Elar was banished and he formed his own house, House Thuranni. Qiphyra feels unreasonably responsible for the betrayal and let's the feeling weight their personality down.

Mental Trauma

Familial betrayal was a big theme in the house. Secrets and distrust. Unreasonably high expectations and standards. Emotional neglect and abuse. Physical abuse. Violence in the household. Personally murdered another person.

Performance and fighting help her feel alive and gives them reason to stay grounded. Speaks when needed and only shares what's relevant, but prefers to keep their personal history private. Known to switch their mood quickly, like the way you might change a song. Also, quick to anger and prone to tantrums. Alcohol can be dangerous for Qiphyra.

To the Baron of House Phiarlan

The final hours spent in Yorel, Qiphyra sits beneath a sagging jungle tree and pulls out a bit of parchment after asking to borrow an ink quill from Morrigan.   'Baron Elvinor Elorrenthi d'Phiarlan of the Shadowfell,   I pen this letter with a heavy heart, seeking the assistance of one whose influence and wisdom traverse the boundaries of our realms. You know me as Qiphyra Aries, daughter to Calanis and Aegnor Aries d’Phiarlan. I am estranged from the house but I remain a humble servant of the Raven Queen, charged with the sacred duty of safeguarding souls and maintaining the delicate balance between life and death. It is with the gravest of concerns that I beseech your aid in a matter that threatens not only the safety of my charge, Laylee Clippertail, but also the very fabric of existence itself.   In the city of Balder's Gate, a series of events has unfolded that I cannot undo. As is my right as a servant of the Raven Queen, I provided a ritual for Miss Clippertail in which she lay claim to her life’s scales. The circumstances are too complex to explain in this letter, but suffice it to say that my actions, while driven by the noblest of intentions, I realize now have left me at the precipice of arrest and condemnation in the eyes of mortals.   My foremost concern, however, is not for my own fate, but for that of Laylee Clippertail, a precious soul I have sworn my protection to under the eye of the Raven Queen. She possesses a power so profound that it has caught the attention of the Wild Hunt itself. We have met with the Seelie Court of the Faewild and some guidance has been provided but we still need help. If Laylee were to fail, the consequences for the material plane and beyond would be dire.   Baron Elvinor, I turn to you, not as a supplicant, but as an agent of the Raven Queen, seeking your sanctuary and wisdom. I humbly request asylum within the protective embrace of your domain in the Shadowfell, where the Wild Hunt's influence wanes. Laylee's life, and the fate of countless souls, hinges upon her safety.   I offer my unwavering allegiance to you, my lord, and to the enigmatic realm you govern. As a paladin of the Raven Queen, I am bound by a sacred oath to serve the balance between life and death. In your presence, I pledge to atone for the mistakes of my past and to stand as a sentinel against the encroaching darkness.   The hour is late, and the shadows grow long. I beseech you, Baron Elvinor, to consider the gravity of our situation and extend your benevolent hand to us in this time of dire need. Laylee Clippertail's safety is paramount, for her destiny is inextricably linked to the very heart of our reality. May the Raven Queen guide your decision.   Yours in unwavering faith and urgency,   Qiphyra Aries, Paladin of the Raven Queen'   They reread the page as the ink dries. Their middle turns with anxiety as they whisper, "Please do not betray me." They wind the letter tightly and seal it with wax.

Trading the Masked Salesman

Ifrit's Hammer is mine. It's powerful, beautiful and holds mysteries. I traded a memory for it. Of what I can't say, because it's gone now. This hammer, however, will carry me to glory. I'm sure of it.   [Weapon (maul), artifact (requires attunement by a when attuned to this hammer, you are considered proficient with this weapon, you set the weapons command word, and you become resistant to fire damage, while holding this weapon.) As a bonus action, on your turn, you can speak the weapons command word, (Chosen by the player during attunement.) which will cause the maul to release a mixture of liquids. Depending on which liquids mix, the maul is either shrouded in a gas like cloud, or erupted in flames. In either case, the hammer begins to shed Bright light for 40ft, and dim light for an additional 40ft. Also while ablaze, the hammer explodes on impact, dealing an additional 2d6 damage. The damage type is based on the command word spoken, thunder for the gas, or fire for the flames. Melee, 5' reach, 2d6+3 bludgeoning damage, 10lb, heavy, two-handed, light.]

The Grand Shindig

Bat girl can eat rocks. Flying onto the Grand Shindig like they own the place. Showing off with freezing glamour and thaumaturgy. Politicians all but rolled over for this loser. The team was too involved with pleasantries to see how corrupt the whole situation was. I did what no one else would do. What needed to be done.   I need to apologize to Mallow for raising my voice to their elders. I'm almost certain their mother, Rosemary, will try to blame the whole situation on Mallow. Rosemary has some issue with taking responsibility.
