During June's Summer Camp Prep Month, I was nervous about committing to the
Gold Badge. With July being filled with mandatory overtime at Amazon and the start of a Front End Development class I had enrolled in, I wasn't sure if the goal was achievable. This event was so fun and the prompts inspired me. It was exciting to build a new world from scratch. We started July with just 1 article -
Summer Camp 2023 Pledge Article. Now the Dragonstar Sagas have 32 story-related articles and the world is starting to take shape! I can't believe I made it to
Diamond!
Now What?
What's next you ask? While we're patiently waiting for the kind and generous judges to read through the thousands of articles written for Summer Camp, I hope to continue working on The Dragonstar Sagas.
I'm going to focus on the
Main Characters and the plot of my first fantasy romance novel,
Heart of The Half-Dragon. Neither Marcus nor Ember have their own articles yet and there are other important side characters to flesh out.
Expect to see a few more articles related to prompts that inspired me. I have a few prompts with stubs and artwork that I just didn't have time to complete during the event.
I've created a
Goals & Projects article to keep me on task.
Here's a link to my
Summer Camp 2023 Pledge Article. It has all of the prompts that I completed during Summer Camp organized by week.
I'm going to miss Summer Camp!
Not only were the prompts fun and inspiring, the
Community was so welcoming! Every like, follow, and comment made my day. It was so wonderful to have other folks read my crazy articles. I know that for a lot of people, the idea of mixing Sci-Fi and Fantasy into a single world is taboo, so I really appreciate the love and support I found on World Anvil for my quirky universe.
It was great to find so many other creative and kind world builders. At the start of Summer Camp, I was not involved in this community at all. I had used World Anvil for my latest D&D campaign but didn't really search around to find other interesting worlds to peruse. Summer Camp introduced me to so many cool and fun new worlds. I went from 0 followed worlds to a healthy list of 18. These wonderful Summer Camp participants have given me fun places to explore during my rare and sporadic downtime. It's been super cool to see how differently everyone responded to the same prompts, especially when some of us chose the exact same answers but twisted things in our own ways.
Thank you!
Special Thanks to
StrixxLine for taking the time to read several of my articles during her Feral Friday streams on her
Twitch Channel.
