Despair Rules

Insolence points will be distributed to players any time players violate the Social Contract or Rules of Engagement in the Session Zero notes tab.

  • This is an easy way of mirroring the effects of bad RP to in-game play (essentially a bonk stick that hurts only when needed repeatedly)

Every five insolence points a player accumulates will give their character a level of Despair. Despair has the same effects as exhaustion, and stacks with said condition, but it cannot be cured with restoration magic or sleep

Levels of Despair can be cured by spending Resolve dice, furthering your character's goals, making a deal with The Archfey (yes this is something that will affect the story, I am not making a way to siphon souls for my own gain), or making a Sanity Save.

  • Sanity Saves will be done with a special ability score aptly called Sanity, which the DM will keep track of individually for each character. This score begins at 10 and acts as an Ability Score to determine d20 roll modifiers.
  • Your score may change depending on what occurs during the story. If it is unclear as to how a certain character may respond to the campaign events, the DM may ask for players to roll a saving throw if the relevant mental ability score.
