Dycides Humans

Worldly and wise, quick witted and well read, knowing every law and how to stretch it, the Dycides Humans fill many little niches in a community. In the Age of Vacancy when Genies first ruled in the stead of their masters, they stretched the laws with overly literal versions to work around them to find what they needed to govern. The Dycides folk do the same to survive. While some have banded together, most notably the Seasword Alliance, most Dycides humans are just looking for that next opportunity to gain status and wealth and seize that moment for themselves.

Physical Description:

Dycides humans look like Ethium humans. The easiest way to tell the difference is their more diverse skin tones and clothing and ability to weave themselves into any conversation. They are more likely to embrace tattoos and jewelry and find their garments can appear more unisex than the traditional gender roles. Men wearing more garish colors than women happens much more often than in Ethium.

Society:

In the Dycides, due to rigorous work and study, Dycides Humans try to break the stereotype of the unskilled layman. Reinforcing skilled labor at home and in career, being raised that if you do something do it the greatest of anything you know, gives them an impetuous attitude. Most Dycides humans are brought up with the idea from their families of a growth mindset, looking for ways to improve on their failings rather than to be bogged down by them.

Relations:

While Imperial Elves have their opinions, most Dycides Humans are seen as charming, quaint, and sadly short lived. Their need to achieve excellence is approved of by most races, and their ability to move past surface appearances makes those who live on the outside of society appreciate them all the more. Dycides Humans are always seeing the potential in a new friend to join them with whatever they are motivated about. Many organizations and countries use them as diplomats as they tend to be a reassuring race in light of miscommunication.

Alignment and Religion:

Dycides Humans engage in religion with fervor and excitement. Their Clerics are motivated and worship with their whole heart. Dycides humans are the most likely to worship a foreign race’s God, like Torag or even Tiamat. Many prefer to place all the gods on their shelf and pray to each in their correct moment, “Gorem make my blade sharp and Iomedae keep my will strong.” Dycides Humans learn their laws well when they are young, but also dance around them due to technicalities, and have no true alignment pressure.

Adventurers:

Both their need for self-improvement and their desire to make a name for themselves drives Dycides men and women to work in adventuring. As coin can open most doors in the Dycides, its humans know the real way to make yourself great takes risk. No true role is a standard for Dycides humans, as they are a blank slate to be better everyday.
