Lizardfolk

Lizardfolk are proud and powerful reptilian predators that make their communal homes in scattered villages deep within swamps and marshes. Uninterested in colonization of the dry lands and content with the simple weapons and rituals that have served them well for millennia, lizardfolk are viewed by many other races as backwater savages, but within their isolated communities lizardfolk are actually a vibrant people filled with tradition and an oral history stretching back to before humans walked upright.

In the Dycides the lizardfolk tribes that have not left for the wide Gevat swamps have adapted for generations to fight along with the nation. Though they are clear their tribes will continue as they always have, the slow shift in independence from both their swamp dwelling kin and induction into some societal grace has pulled the lizardfolk into new environments and experiences. There is a tenuous trust between the tribes and the greater Dycides region, and few would want a member of the lizard folk as an enemy rather than a ferocious ally.

The lizardfolk have three main lineages. Careful den fathers and mothers seeing what traits they exhibit and placing them in the care of the correct masters to train them to be the greatest contribution to the tribe. Most lizardfolk are not aware of their actual parentage and find the concern about bloodlines among the warm blooded races as foreign and strange. The only familial relationship identified by all lizardfolk are blood brother and sisters, those who have spilled their own blood to defend their ally. Being willing to defend and spill your own blood for another is intimate and life affirming, more so than mating and those who they are selected to mate with by the den fathers and mothers.

Any tribe is a mix of these three basic lifestyles: the peerless hunters Tracker, the strong and traditional Bruiser, and the draconically gifted Dragonkin.
