Slayer

Primary Stats/Alignment:

Main Stats - Strength, Dexterity, Constitution   Roles - DPS, Scout, potentially Tank

Class Basics:

A mix of ranger and rogue, Slayers are excellent trackers and killers. Able to pick a target, they have enhanced capabilities against them. They also are masters of the rogue sneak attack, and gain their own special kinds of slayer talents. Their sudden speed bursts and skills in disguise intimidation and stealth make them better assassins than most assassins.

History in Dycides:

Under the Genie’s stewardship, many dismayed at the rise of the now ambivalent lords of the Dycides. The Grippli saw a chance for profit, and convinced the Genie Lord’s any that had made a serous infraction on another party could be hunted across the land. So the Red Market formed and with them the Slayers and the Red Hand Grippli. Eventually as the number of request went from a trickle to a tumult, the Red Hand taught the warm-bloods the skills of slaying and that influence eventually lead all the way to Ethium.

Religious Influence:

Slayers typically gravitate toward Neutral or Evil deities, and none more significantly than Norgorber. The Reaper of Reputation seeks to lay low any that think themselves above attack and encourages assassins and slayers to keep that in mind, that none are above judgement. Among some younger slayers, they see Groetus, the Harbinger of the Last Days as a diety of respect. As the strange new Dhampir appear, they see that it may be the time for Pharasma to finally finish her count, and Groetus to finally consume all the land and sea. They see their slaying as only the final countdown to the end times.

Society:

0 (Neutral)   Death, Taxes, Slayers. These are norms of the Dycides. If someone has roused someone enough to pay for the Red Market to chase them it is definitely too bad for their families. Slayers are not treated warmly or coldly, but just seen as a nature of the world. If they can be paid to rescind the bounty they may be safe depending on what other favors and potential status are in play. Slayers that are not associated with the Red Market are given less support, but it all comes down to a reality that plays truly well in the Dycides. If you go out of your way to offend or rankle others, slayers are simply your fate.

Archetypes:

Sniper

Life’s Spice is a place of plenty, hedonism, and debauchery. Some push their welcome past the limit however, and those that anger Lord Granthur Sirensong are removed as threats by his Snipers. Able to strike from a distance with incredible accuracy, these Snipers are still changing. While most are masters of the bow or crossbow, some even are using the gnomish firearms to deal swift and sudden attacks from hidden vantage points. Lord Granthur has little time for petty thieves, or any that would slow his unending celebration, and his snipers do clean up after themselves fairly well. Those few that felt underappreciated after their training have ventured to new lands with bow or firearm ready to strike.

Executioner

The desert is a brutal environment, and in the Prekrine Dominion the Red Market’s cruelest killers evolved. The Executioners though living within the laws have a cruel zeal for their work beyond any other group as they primarily only put their focus their killing on humanoids. They care little for tracking because any that wander out of their desert cities are doomed to death. Instead they exert an enthusiasm to cause pain and suffering in their enemies. Those that are not worth their pleasure to agonize they give a cleaner form of assassination, instead making the point by desecrating their bodies. Some Executioners have migrated North to the soft interior of the Dycides to prey on victims that are not yet aware of their legend.

Bounty Hunter

In Treley Expanse the Red Market has less activity, as other adventuring guilds sanctioned by the Five Rivers Company have their own sanctioned mercenary companies. From the mercenary organization a new breed of slayer has taken the stage, the Bounty Hunter. Masters of a specialty weapons, the Bounty Hunter more often takes their victim alive to face the judgement of the company. Masters of Dirty Tricks, grappling and incapacitation, they seek the more valuable bounties, and nothing is more Treley-ish than taking the higher risk for higher reward.

Vanguard

The Vanguard learned long ago, whether it is a nation, an army, or an adventuring group, those who act first often are the only to act. In Old Dycides the Vanguards are often leaders of town guards, militias, or private guards to dignitaries visiting the land. Able to detect danger with a 6th 7th and 8th sense, they are also excellent at using training and tactics among allies to quickly break an ambush. Vanguards wear to sigil or symbol to show rank or status. They enjoying the sudden shock on their opponent’s face as they move swiftly, and the dawning realization as they hit the ground.
