Tieflings

Simultaneously more and less than mortal, Tieflings are the offspring of humans and fiends. With otherworldly blood and traits to match, Tieflings are often shunned and despised out of reactionary fear. Most Tieflings never know their fiendish sire, as the coupling that produced their curse occurred generations earlier. The taint is long-lasting and persistent, often manifesting at birth or sometimes later in life, as a powerful, though often unwanted, boon. Despite their fiendish appearance and netherworld origins, Tieflings have a human’s capacity of choosing their fate, and while many embrace their dark heritage and side with fiendish powers, others reject their darker predilections. Though the power of their blood calls nearly every Tiefling to fury, destruction, and wrath, even the spawn of a succubus can become a saint and the grandchild of a pit fiend an unsuspecting hero.   Though Tiefling’s appearances vary significantly, those with a careful eye can identify the traits of each specific lineage. Tiefling of the Hells come in the form of the Helltainted, have skin that is particularly thick and are unnaturally strong. Tiefling whose blood is drawn from the daemons of Abaddon are The Lost, with an attunement to shadows, stealth and negative energy. Tieflings whose lineage is linked to the Abyss are called Abyssalite, who use a charming nature to get what they desire. Only those with deep planar knowledge could ever identify the differences by a glance.   Most Tieflings live without this knowledge, and search to find roles in any society that will take them in. The Duskmouth Halls are a known safe haven country, but outside they must prove their loyalty and good will to be accepted. The other haven that exists is the newly established Kervosh, who promise to allow their infernal nature to shine if they serve the grand army that is forming.
