Agran

Agrans are a race of long-lost bird creatures that died out completely. Officially known as "Dead Agrans", these winged zombies haunt the night sky, attacking any bird, Sylph, Human or Baleign that manages to get into the sky during the night.
These Agrans were, as stated before, a race of long lost bird creatures. Evidence of their existence is most significantly found by the Agrans, but can also be found on the few solid clouds that remain (Solid clouds being clouds enchanted by magic to be solid enough to stand and build on). A few have wooden structures, as well as a few smaller stone ones. These could have only been made by the living Agrans, as Baleigns live nowhere nearby and make different structures to them, as well as using smaller twigs.    These clouds, investigated by winged Humans, have been found to have examples of bones, a significant amount of bone jewelry, and what can only be described as an altar to bones, or at least an altar made of bones. This is distinctly not Baleign at all.    Besides this, Agrans have a different body structure than the Baleigns, which suggests that they could have had similar ancestors long ago. No Baleigns seem to know anything, and none of their myths relate to these creatures, so it's possible that they were limited to the upper hemisphere.    Agrans themselves circle their prey typically twice then swoop in. In swooping, they use their claws to either maul or grab the person, depending on if it is the back. If it's the back, they dig deep, but do not grab. If front facing, they grab by inserting their claws into the grooves of the ribs.    Typically the first way kills them, although there are exceptions. The second way, however, is much more painful, as they drag you up whilst you bleed, and typically let you bleed out, only dropping you once you are dead.    These, however, are fairly easy to avoid by diving down or out of the way. Using a sword, you can easily slash it's skinny body to pieces by sticking it out to catch the creature in it's vulnerable swooping state.    They avoid light, and never come out in the day. Sticking by a fire makes it impossible for them to attack, like most creatures.
