Choralictans

Choralictans are creatures that are barely, barely Humanoid. They reside in the sea, and unlike merpeople, can breath in saltwater.    Choralictans take the appearance of heavily shredded people with shell "armor" that shields their skin. They are of one body type: Thick and muscular, none deviating from this. These creatures have no genders and look the same, body wise.    Choralictans' Armor can be in many different shapes and colors, with different patterns, too. It is often considered beautiful to see a Choralictan on a beach, relaxing in the sun, and to admire these creatures.    Choralictans are filter feeders, funneling plankton through their shells to survive. They often do this with the wind, as many microscopic germs are found in the air. These creatures typically stand still for long periods of time, only moving if they must. Typically they will either move from the sea to the beach or from the beach to the sea. They rarely move because of their weight and the fact that it is already hard to move underwater.   Fighting these creatures is something difficult even if they wouldn't fight back. Their natural shell "armor" is impossible to stab and nearly impossible to crack. One needs a warhammer to crush the shell. These creatures, however, also fight back.    When you disturb one of these creatures, and it is now hostile, it will emit a sort of gurgling sound. It will then begin to approach you. With it's two big arms it will grab you and it will lift you like a toy. It will then drag you underwater. It is said that the bodies are eaten after this, but it's simply speculative. Many have died due to these creatures.   However, they aren't all dangerous. These people are quite friendly if you don't immediately try to kill them, and often have something to sell. If it's spare shell pieces or old shell pieces that can be forged into armor and serve their purpose well. Other Choralictans will trade for Choralictan breathing organs which can be put over your face to breath with whilst underwater. These organs are gotten from wars.
Choralictan Society is a violent and dangerous society, and is filled with wars. They are all centralized around "Choral Castles", large castles made by several generations of Choralictans. Due to the slowness of being underwater and in a heavy suit, the Choralictans stay close together or by themselves. The Choral Castles are the work of many generations building fish and plankton traps and decorating them well. Typically they build around other Choralictan families too. This creates a Choral Castle.
These Choral Castles are constantly at war, each clan fighting for dominance over the Choral Castle. These large battles end in many deaths and many banishments, many Choralictans leaving the Choral Castles to survive.
