Dragons Origin Arc
The story covering the coming of dragons to Pangaea and the initial conflicts that arise because of this.
Structure
Exposition
With the light restored in the world, the Faefolk begin to work rebuilding their society alongside new mortal races of Pangaea. Progression, however, is halted by the constant threat of dragons. Among the dragons, the first four born to Uthos and Ur are known as the Ur-Dragons and lead the tribes: Deatheven, Quetzalcoatl, Laogon, and Ma'at. Deatheven and his tribe cause most of the issues amongst the mortal races in the North, with Quetzalcoatl and Laogon cohabitating with the mortals of the South and East respectively. To the west, Ma'at prefers solitude, and rarely if ever comes into contact with the mortals within his domain so long as they do not oppose him.
Rising Action
News begins to spread that Deatheven is preparing for war with his fellow Ur Dragon, Quetzalcoatl, to establish dominance as the strongest of the Dragons. Knowing a fight between the North and South would cause destruction throughout Pangaea, Atem makes a risky bid to make a deal with the powerful Ur Dragon of the West, Ma'at. Atem sought out Ma'at in his lair, demanding that he make a pact with Atem, and together, the two of them could defeat Deatheven. Though he recognizes the Faery King's strength, the dragon scoffs at the idea. Ma'at knows a drawn-out conflict between Deatheven and Quetzalcoatl is nearing and he would rather wait for the outcome than be the aggressor. In order to prevent his kingdom from falling to ruin, Ma'at suggests that Atem seek to ally himself with Quetzalcoatl, the more civilized of the two warring dragons. With a nod, Atem sets off in search of the Great Southern Dragon.
Climax
Upon standing before the multi-color dragon, Atem found himself humbled by the mere grace and strength emanating from Quetzalcoatl. When asked why Atem sought her out, Atem confidently proposed the first pact between dragonkind and the mortal races; that if Quetzalcoatl would lend her power to Atem, the two could defeat Deatheven. Quetzalcoatl let out a mighty roar, asking if Atem dared insinuate that she couldn't deal with Deatheven herself. Atem, not backing down, nodded, remarking how rapidly Deatheven's strength was growing every day. Quetzalcoatl reaches her claw out over Atem as if to crush him in a simple motion. To Atem's surprise, however, Quetzalcoatl humbled herself, agreeing that Deatheven was beyond even her strength at this point should she seek a one-on-one fight. But were they to fight together, they could defeat the Ur Dragon. With a signing in blood, their pact was solidified: If either found themselves facing death, the other, too, would perish. Now wielding new power, Atem rides atop Quetzalcoatl as she flies to face Deatheven in combat.
As the pair arrive before the Master of Destruction, he lets out a monstrous laugh, mocking Quetzalcoatl for lowering herself to allying with mortals. Before a response could be had, Deatheven took the initiative to attack.
Falling Action
With the newfound powers he acquired from Quetzalcoatl, Atem managed to narrowly defeat Deatheven. Unwilling to process losing to a Fae, Deatheven commanded an assault on the Fae by dragonkind. This plan was thwarted however by Ma'at's return, using his presence behind the mortal people as a warning to the rest of dragonkind.
Resolution
For the moment pacified, the dragons agreed to share the earthly realm with the mortals, and Deatheven was cast away to the edges of the realm, to live a life eternally keeping the creatures of the void at bay. Though refusing to accept his loss, his new role fulfilled his need for carnage enough for him to accept the terms without much more fighting.
