Exposition
With Grier still petrified and Nicolas still knocked out cold, the rest of the members of the Shiloh Brigade decide it's time to come up with a game plan for how to counterattack Ogre's Bane predicted attack on Shiloh Village. While Tobias feels it's a good idea to bring the fight to them in the Shiloh Mountains, Elsie brings up the fact they should stay back and prepare for the impending threat they know is coming. Jaye, silent up to this point, simply proposes we do both, sending in a single dispatch team to attack Ogre's Bane's base since they know a group will be simultaneously sent out to Shiloh Village and there shouldn't be as many to handle as a result in the mountains. It's agreed upon and the dispatch group consisting of Abeo, Elsie, Van, Tobias, Calanae and Basil prepare to head out. Despite Sophita being prepared, Jaye states she, most of all, has to remain in the village. With Grier out of commission, the people will need a leader. And being the chief's niece, as well as the voice of reason during the escape from the de Fleur estate, will really resonate with the villagers and keep them calm and hardened during the attack. She reluctantly agrees, understanding her place is in the village and this is what she's been asking for, the chance to prove to Grier she can handle things on her own.
Conflict
Meanwhile, the villagers are all talking amongst themselves about what to expect tomorrow, the time Ogre's Bane promised they would attack if the village was not turned over to them. From inside a nearby house, Fresca sits beside a knocked out Nicolas, her face, an enigma except for an instance that rage crosses her face. Cecily, coming across the rest of the villagers talking, does her best to reassure everyone things will be okay. Because the village's best are on it.
The next day, The Shiloh Brigade dispatch party head for the mountains, careful not to arouse any suspicion while Sophita rallies the able bodied to fight and assures the other villagers are safe during the attack. Back in Ogre's Bane's base of operations, Glyndwr is sitting before his 5 commanders. Jacquez, previously one of the mountain bandit chiefs, asks is it time for him to begin his slaughter, stating the sheep is in play and waiting for the wolf's command. Glyndwr simply waves his hand, his other placed up his eye, still injured from where Grier stabbed him. Glyndwr states gruffly that they all have their orders, and the commanders dismiss themselves except for one, Zanthia. Seeing Glyndwr in pain, she approaches, placing a hand on his eye, only to be reflexively grabbed. Glyndwr sighs, and promises he'll be fine before the two kiss. Going back to Shiloh Village, Rubin begins to summon up the Shiloh Militia when he is approached by Briggs. The two men have a fierce staredown before Briggs shrugs, stating he's here to help in any way he can, much to the surprise of Rubin and the relief of Neilson, glad to fight alongside his father. Rubin is skeptical for a second, but happily extends a hand out to the man, saying he could appreciate a co-captain.
Just as they reach the summit of the Shiloh Mountains, Basil proposes they split up. Using his sensory abilities, he says he believes there are only five, maybe six people who they would have any kind of trouble out here, calling the rest fodder. He states how much the group has grown, and despite being outnumbered, he has faith in their abilities. Suddenly however, they hear a voice calling out. A young yuxie girl, not much younger than themselves, saying she knows they're here and that they'd best come out now. After receiving no reply, the yuxie girl introduces herself as Lilith and a magus of Ogre's Bane, sending several blades made of air in their direction, shredding the rocks they were hiding behind. Elsie steps out, asking Basil if Lilith or any of the men behind her were one of the six he said they should be wary of. Basil says no, causing a grin to cross Elsie's face. "Then you guys can leave all of them to me. I'll catch up."

Rising Action
Lilith commands the group of Ogre's Bane mercenaries with her to stop the group from escaping while she handles the girl who has approached them. Lilith clutches a pendant wrapped around her wrist and closes her eyes, praying that Zanthia and Glyndwr trust her to handle this group herself. As she opens her eyes however, she is stunned to see her men engulfed in a giant blaze, Elsie's hand outreached in the direction of the blaze while the others escape. "Who are you?" Lilith stammers, trying to regain her confidence. Elsie sighs as Ifreet appears on her shoulder. "Let's just get this over with."
Abeo, Van, Basil, Tobias and Calanae, despite the danger, decided to split up and meet up at the back room where the overwhelming power was felt by Basil, assumed to be their leader. It wouldn't take long for the four to be met by threats; Van and Tobias both ran into former mountain bandit bosses: Hendricks, a sellsword turned brigand, and Greybeard, an aged Bijou warrior who still commanded the presence of danger. Calanae would run into the Devil brothers, 3 basilisk who work well together launching unrelenting joint attacks. To his surprise, Abeo went down a path leading him to what appeared to be the lounging area of the bandits. Face to face with over 30 angry and battle ready bandits, Abeo smiles at finally having the chance to go all out. Leaving the most unsual path he sensed for himself, Basil would run into another Basilisk man, much to his annoyance as he states his bad fortune for running into the supposed boss and the strongest aura he sensed at the base.
Jacquez and his large group of mountain bandits had just come into sight of Shiloh Village. Sophita, Gharoh, Jeanne and Rubin, the leaders of the Shiloh Village resistance forces, stood atop the shoddy defensive wall their village had, taking into account the sizable force their enemy arrived with, unsure Ogre's Bane truly meant for their to be any survivors if they surrendered or not. Jaye, working as Sophita's strategist for the defenses, plainly explained he gives their forces an hour, maybe two at best, before they are overrun and the village is in ruins, a statement everyone listens to quietly, steeling themselves to fight for their lives. Meanwhile Neilson is looking for his father to go over some of the plans, when he walks in on him talking low with a hooded figure. The figure reaches at his belt but Briggs waves his off, explaining this is his son When Neilson asks what's going on Briggs simply replies he is protecting his family. Confused, he runs off, causing the hooded figure to run off after him, exclaiming this was not part of the plan. Running himself into a corner, Neilson draws his blade prepared to defend himself against his hooded assailant, when the man crumbles to the ground, dead. Fresca, knife in hand, stands behind him and removes his hood.
Elsie is effortlessly repelling Lilith's wind magic, which naturally is at a disadvantage against her fire magic. Seeing herself losing this fight, Lilith thinks back to when Zanthia found her in the Guild Republic and rescued her from the streets after she ran away from home. Her resolve renewed, Lilith summons a mighty gust of wind to swirl around the both of them, stating that while she may be at a disadvantage, she still can win this fight. Ifreet laughs at Lilith's attempt at victory, but Elsie looks to the skies, wary. Meanwhile Van is nimbly avoiding Hendricks' sword slashes, but the bandit boss is slowly getting closer and closer to cutting him. Suddenly, Hendricks changes his sword form and rushes Van, seemingly slicing him in half. As his body falls, it suddenly vanishes, much to Hendricks' confusion. Suddenly appearing behind him, Van delivers a bone crunching ax kick into the bandit boss's sword arm, causing him to drop his blade. Van scratches his head, stating how close that was, and if not for his speed training with Basil, that would have truly been the end of him. However, after training with Basil so long with his speed and sensory abilities, his reflexes have substantially increased to the point he is able to produce afterimages. Enraged, turns around and charges Van. On the battlefield of Tobias' fight, he and the massive Greybeard on exchanging blows back and forth, seemingly on equal terms. Tobias begins to laugh, asking the Bijou man when he's going to stop holding back. Greybeard lets loose a smile, revealing his aura and then reinforcing his massive hammer before bringing it down on Tobias. Though he is pushed back some, Tobias laughs wildly, revealing his own aura and reinforcement of it on his bat. "I think I can handle this," he says, cracking his neck.
Bearing new knowledge about Briggs, Fresca and Neilson run through the village looking for him before things get worse. Meanwhile Briggs, suited up for battle, climbs the watchtower and begins talking with Rubin about the state of the Shiloh Militia, as well as the defenses Sophita and the others have set up. As Rubin explains, a wicked smile crosses Briggs' face as he steps back into the shadows and unsheathes a hidden blade. Before Rubin can react, he finds the dagger buried deep in his back, unable to make a noise as Briggs covers his mouth and twists the dagger deep until Rubin's lifeless body slumps over the side of the watchtower. Briggs then moves into the next part of his plan, moving atop the wall and commanding the soldiers watching the gates to open it. Confused, the soldiers try to protest but Briggs pulls rank, saying his orders came directly from Rubin and Sophita themselves, causing the soldiers to not further question the man's motives as that same wicked smile crosses Briggs' face.
Elsie is on the defensive as blades of wind slip out of the massive whirlwind she is stuck in and slice by her in a seemingly endless barrage. Even shooting one of her fireballs has no effect to break out of the massive whirlwind trapping her in place. Ifreet, impatient and angered, commands Elsie to let him free to handle this himself but she scoffs at the idea, stating she just wanted to see the best of what Lilith could do with magic first hand. She begins to laugh, explaining that magic truly is amazing and she can't wait to learn more and for Lilith to be proud of her power but not take this loss personally. Confused, Lilith instinctively begins to laugh as well, believing there's no way Elsie could possibly escape. Then a red light shines from within the whirlwind and suddenly the pillar of wind catches ablaze, turning into a fiery pillar before dissipating before Elsie as she walks forward towards Lilith. Sure that the girl has used all the magical power she could muster at the moment, Elsie reaches out to the girl, causing Lilith to instinctively flinch and think back to how her mother and father would hit her. Lilith however is shocked when she feels Elsie's hand on her head, telling her it's okay and they no longer have to fight anymore. Lilith drops to her knees and begins to cry, begging Zanthia and Glyndwr for forgiveness as Elsie continues into the fortress.

Climax
Sophita's heart drops when she hears the signal bells, signifying the opening of the front gates of Shiloh Village. She rushes to the front gate, asking any and everyone she runs across if they've seen Rubin and what's going on.
Meanwhile Van and Tobias's fights prepare to come to an end as the two prepare to demonstrate what they have really learned. Van, lowers himself into a sprinter's stance while Tobias reaches into the baseball bag he has slung over his shoulder, revealing a worn bamboo blade. Greybeard lets out a mighty roar of laughter at the sight of the bamboo blade, wondering how such a thing could possibly hurt him, let alone change things in this fight. Before he could further comment, Greybeard's eyes roll in the back of his head and he is forced to drop to a knees, blood pouring out of slash wounds in his chest. He looks up at Tobias, standing above him, baseball bat and bamboo blade in hand, glaring at him. Tobias explains that the bamboo blade was a present from his master until he finished his training and would receive his own sword. Every day Tobias has trained excruciatingly hard with the bamboo blade, giving it its worn appearance. But his training, combined with his understand of chakra and aura, resulted in a refined reinforcement of his aura along the bamboo blade, making it as sharp and strong as steel. Greybeard laughs, upset at himself for underestimating his opponent simply because of his youth. He compliments Tobias's training before passing out, allowing the former delinquent to continue forward. Back to Van, the young man is still in his sprinter's stance, patient and silent. Annoyed and irritated at what he believes to be arrogance, Hendricks enters a defensive sword stance, refusing to be made a fool of again by mere afterimages. Van smiles, promising this technique will be nothing like that, before completely vanishing. Hendricks, confused, lowers his guard for a split second, during which he is pummeled by a swift barrage of kicks. The quick assault by Van causes Hendricks to immediately be knocked back, allowing Van to end things with a final ax kick to the skull, knocking Hendricks out immediately. Van takes a deep breath, and begins to stretch, before reaching in his pocket to check a stop clock, sighing and saying the fight took longer than it should have and that Basil would make him run laps around the Shiloh Woods had he seen that sloppy fight. A serious look crossing his face again, Van takes off into the fortress once more. Meanwhile back at the fight of Calanae's fight against the Devil brothers, she's seen grabbing the collar of the eldest brother, the only conscious member of their trio, asking which way they boss was again as a terrified man points in the direction before being dropped to the ground, exclaiming that the woman is a demon.
