Exposition
Having dealt with the threat of the Dhimwari, The Seraphim appear before the United Council during the celebration post the Dhimwari invasion. Claiming the inhabitants of this world are no longer worth saving, Juriel blows her horn, causing the Icarus to writhe and burst into flames, turning into their true form. In the ensuing attack, King Ogoron dies while protecting the inhabitants of Rhoa. Juriel is moved by Ogoron's sense of justice and calls for the Cheruba to move on from Rhoa, temporarily saving our heroes for the time being. Upon coming in contact with the Cheruba, Xanadu is approached by the Masked Man, who reveals himself to be a Seraphim turned rogue after refusing to let mankind be used as naught but another experiment. He reveals he was the one who freed Huron years ago and shoehorned the War of flames. Angered at this revalation, Xanadu swears to stop the Masked Man, and sets out in search of power.
Rising Action
To signal the destruction of the Earthly Realm, Juriel, Herald of the End, blew into his horn and sent out an earthshattering bellow that could be heard around the world. As if awakening from a deep sleep, around the world the Icarus began to convulse and scream aloud in agony as they began to undergo a transformation. Twisting and becoming enveloped in flames, the reborn Cheruba rose into the sky and began raining fire down upon the Earthly Realm, destroying all in their path. Many died in the initial attacks, including King Ogoron, who died protecting the people of Rhoa during the confusion. Ogoron's sacrifice is noted by Juriel, who decides to temporarily call off the attack on Rhoa, after collecting Ogoron's Soul.
Utilizing Juriel's omnipresent voice, Ohun informed mankind of their inevitable demise, stating it's to ensure the continued existence of the universe. Despite hearing this, one by one, the people of the world decide to stand against their destruction, fighting and running from the Cheruba. The Nereids, who decided to sink their great city to the bottom of the ocean after the battle against the Dhimwari, did their best to stay away from the affairs of the world until the Theophylaktos descended upon the Earthly Realm. Using his Omniscient eye, Theophylaktos was able to discover the Nereid's underwater city, sending his technologically advanced creations to destroy it. Though they were initially overpowering both the nereids and their ocean masters, with the help of a now awakened Nereus, Theo's forces were temporarily halted. As Theophylaktos's machines began their attack around the world, Azazel met with Xan Obe, recognizing him as the only other person who could help him achieve his goals now that Xanadu actively sought to end the fighting. Together, the two of them would create the ultimate being: one which would be formed of the hundreds of souls lost during the past two years of war. Xan Obe, unaware of the Masked Man's true goals, agreed to keep an eye on Xanadu for anything suspicious per request. Eis, who'd been accompanying Xan Obe, was seen to possess much potential and underwent training with the Masked Man in secret to learn the art of necromancy, also playing into Azazel's plans in hopes of a replacement should Xan Obe fail him as well.
Climax
As Theophylaktos and Juriel's minions brought destruction across the world, The Navatu and Mnemikono tribes joined forces once more to fight against a common enemy. Before the might of Aria, Batu, and Durga, the Cheruba and machina were unable to even cause much destruction amongst the tribes of the Navatulands. To the north, Queen Una and Heimdall united the Homon and Gigantes nations to hold a united front against the threat of extinction. Curious as to why they would fight against the inevitable, Theophylaktos was amused, stating it wouldn't last long. Nereus rebuked the Seraphim's claims, informing him as long as they underestimated mankind, they would claim victory against the Seraphim and all who sought to destroy their home. Before Theophylaktos responds, he barely manages to react as Solana appears, just barely failing a surprise attack against the Seraphim. Theo laughed as he simultaneously incapacitated Nereus and Solana, watching them drift to the bottom of the ocean as he claims mankind is destined to fail regardless, as it's their destiny. As Nereus drifts off into eternal sleep, Theophylaktos gathers his soul, deciding to leave Lyonesse alone in respect for their champion's bravery.
While the Seraphim continued their destruction of the world, Androssi, having freed herself from Holy Law due to the interference of her Dhimwari lineage, appears before the dryad, Pangaea. In order to protect the world from the Dhimwari's influence should they survive extinction at the hands of Seraphim, Androssi proposed Pangaea receive divinity through ascension, as Androssi once did. We then cut to Xanadu, having recently wiped out another Crimean border village. Believing their friend to be losing his mind, Xan Obe and Eis stood against the Corpse Lord, only to find themselves soundly defeated. Before leaving, Xanadu steals a piece of Eis's soul, apologizing before disappearing into the darkness of the night. Fueled by rage, Xan Obe returns to the masked man to plead for his help in saving Eis and stopping Xanadu. Azazel smiled behind his mask. Finally, things were coming together.
Meanwhile, the third Seraphim, Dogma, arrived in the Navatulands, ready to deliver divine punishment. Singlehandedly, Dogma the Omnipotent killed every Navatu and Nnemikono tribe he came across, causing Batu and Aria to seek him out in order to protect their home. When they finally came face to face with the unstoppable Seraphim, they found themselves unable to deal with any of his attacks or even land a solid hit on him. As they are about to receive a fatal blow, Durga joins the fight, managing to cut the mighty Dogma's arm. The sight of his own blood excited Dogma, and he accepted the giant woman's challenge as Durga urged Aria and Batu to escape. The fight seemed evenly matched at first until Durga was no longer able to keep up with the overwhelming strength of Dogma, resulting in her death. Impressed that there were mortals with such strength, Dogma collected Durga's soul and continued his destruction of the Navatulands.
As the Seraphim caused destruction across the world, Azazel and Xan Obe finished creating the body which would house the souls of the fallen in order to fight against Xanadu and the Seraphim. With the Masked Man's promise to save Eis after the ritual, Xan Obe reluctantly lent Azazel his power, allowing the fallen Seraphim to conjure the souls of the departed to fill the valley they were hidden in. The sky above them grew dark as if to warn all watching of the coming danger as Mot opened his eyes, letting out a blood-curdling scream.
Falling Action
Batu, feelingly cowardly for running away in the face of the enemy, is distraught. As they flee from Dogma the Omnipotent, Aria and Batu run into Xanadu, having completed the last step he needs in order enough power to stand against the coming darkness. Though questioned about his intentions, Xanadu simply states that he will protect the Navatu people by any means necessary, an ambition that Batu comes to respect. With his will to fight restored, Batu sets back out to protect as many of his people as possible.
As Batu and Aria ride towards Dogma's last known location, an ominous dark cloud begins to envelop the sky above them, slowly shrouding the Earthly Realm in a dark fog.
