Armour & Shields

Light Armour

These are the light armours of Skyrim. They can be any material but start at a baseline of leather, iron and steel in material. Starting equipment will always be leather/iron unless specified in the class or background description.
 
Those armours marked with a metal ingot as materials will require Smith's tools to create. Those marked with leather (discounting leather strips) as materials will require Leatherworker's tools. Baseline armour will require proficency with one or the other tool to create, depending on the armour. If the armour requires both tools, the bonuses from proficency in ethier tool can still be added to the roll when crafting, however not both.
 
Those amours marked with a metal ingot other than iron as materials will always require proficency with Smith's tools to create. Armours that use materials other than leather, iron and steel in thier creation will also require special features to create in addition to proficency with Smith's tools.
 
Certain armours carry resistance, certain amours grant the wearer Temporary Hit Points (THP) when they are donned. These temporary hit points will last until the armour is doffed or until they are expended, at which point the armour will be damaged, no longer providing the THP and require 10 minutes of tempering to restore the affect. This can be achieved with the both the tools needed to create said armour and 1 of the principal materials needed to create it (not leather strips). Unlike crafting, tempering never requires proficency to attempt and you will always succeed if you would be proficient in crafting the relevent armour. Tempering can also be performed with the mending cantrip, at a rate of 1 THP per 10 minutes of mending, up to the armours max THP.

Shields

These are the shields of Skyrim. They can be any material but start at a baseline of wood, leather and iron in material. Starting equipment will always be wood/leather/iron unless specified in the class or background description.
 
Those shields marked with a metal ingot as materials will require Smith's tools to create. Those marked with leather (discounting leather strips) as materials will require Leatherworker's tools. Those marked with firewood as materials will require Woodcarver's tools. Simple wood/leather/iron shields do not require proficency with ethier tool to create. If the shield requires multiple tools, the bonuses from proficency in any required tool can still be added to the roll when crafting, however not multiple.
 
Those shields marked with a metal ingot other than iron as materials will always require proficency with Smith's tools to create. Shields that use materials other than leather, iron and steel in thier creation will also require special features to create in addition to proficency with Smith's tools.
 
Certain shields carry resistance, when donned these resistances can stack with other resistances your character may have to become invulnerabilites. However certain shields also carry disadvantage to stealth, when donned this disadvantage can stack with any other stealth disadvantages your character may have to become an incapability of stealth.
