Vladimir discovered The Nether while being held hostage with his brother by the Ottoman Empire, overhearing another speak about the decimating power of a Mongolian conqueror. He was intrigued but didn't show much interest until his father and eldest brother were killed. Terrified by the slaughter and replacement of his family members, he refused to follow the same morbid path. Vlad started researching the Nether in earnest, believing that it would allow him to rule Wallachia for eternity. His theory on obtaining the Nether without succumbing to its overwhelming power was to surround himself with corpses.
In his mind, their deceased auras would continuously empower him, sparing him the work of constant killing. He did this by impaling people, erecting them from the ground and meditating amongst them. When he gained enough power, he railed against the Ottoman Empire and murdered hundreds of thousands with the utmost confidence. Those who lived to tell the tale say they witnessed bats among the suffering, inhuman features in Vlad and a darkness that could not be pierced by the sun. Once his younger brother, Radu, discovered his secret, he plotted to take the power for himself.
Vlad fled to Corvinus where he was soon imprisoned for his heinous acts. He festered and stewed inside the prison, cut off from his primitive form of the Nether and growing weaker by the day. When he was released years later, he rose from the madness that he combated during his withdrawal, wanting to fight for Corvinus as a way to leave his dark past behind. But he was murdered in battle, too weak to fight the fiercest foes and called to become the Nether Beast, Wallox Onio.
A 12-foot vampire bat, he walks on his hind legs with thousands of smaller bats embedded in his fur. They constantly feed on him, causing him great pain and infinite hunger. He can summon enough bats to blacken the brightest environment, emit a supersonic screech that can shatter metal and vomit waves of infected blood. When summoned, he prefers to impale his enemy with enormous talons and claws that are often mistaken for two-handed swords.
