Hybris Penumbra kills 3 million people and destroys 3/4 of The Isle of Dawn in a mass suicide bombing of cult members.
Hybris Penumbra's second emergence brought a plethora of new issues, including a reinvigorated desire to recruit cultists and a more established presence of the millions of people he corrupted. Conversely, the heroes of Apollo City were in the middle of creating a force of both experienced humans and metahumans who would coordinate to enact plans in taking down the cult once and for all, just like in the Obelisk Raid. Led by a woman calling herself Spider-Gwen and Anna Williams, they launched a series of attacks on the cult including seriously wounding one of the cult's Nether Beasts, hunting cultists who terrorized Apollo City and even detonating an Aether bomb in the Temple of Achlys. But it wasn't until the arrival of an android named Polypawn, who said that he was sent by Chronos, that Hybris had decided to enact his deadliest plot yet. A Sunday Sermon was called where he ranted and raved about getting vengeance for everything the cult has had to suffer through, calling the heroes monsters who only care about protecting their moral stance while murdering innocents. Before any of the heroes could get a chance to recant his outrageous claims, he proclaimed that "The Absolution had begun" and signaled for suicide bomber cultists to detonate on the Isle of Dawn. This coordinated attack killed three million people and destroyed 3/4 of the island in seconds, leading to an instant retaliation by the heroes of Apollo. In the chaos that ensued, Hybris was challenged by both Spider-Gwen and Anna Williams before being ambushed completely by an enraged Broly, the same Saiyan that took on Alastor in hand to hand combat. Taken off guard by his appearance, he tried desperately to escape his wrath and head to the Masters Dojo for a secret ritual. However, the Saiyan's rage was underestimated and the second part of his plan is still yet to be accomplished. This terrorist attack forced heroes to step up in the recovery efforts, forced Broly into a trauma-induced coma and signaled the beginning of a proxy war.
