Caemir the Lion
One of the original Companions of Rhuon, Caemir was known as the Lion for his bravery and prowess in battle. He is credited with turning the tide of battle on a number of occasions by his presence alone. Caemir was placed in charge of the Elderwar campaigns in the south. He spent several years destroying the strongholds of the Elder but struggled with rooting out the cults and worship of the Dark Elder that was ingrained in many of the southern peoples. He returned at the Last Battle to aid Rhuon in his greatest time of need. Leading an army of southerners, they were transported through the magic of SORCERESS to the DARK HEART to turn the tide.
Caemir fought bravely and, in the end, slew the BIG THING. Unfortunately, he did not survive the wounds that he had taken in mortal combat with the BIG THING. He perished on the battlefield with last words for his lieutenants to bury him in the south for all that he had done was to free them. The southern army returned home after the Last Battle and did not take part in the Consolidation as they were busy working out problems in their own lands.
Many of the tribes that he freed took his name in honor and became known as the Caem.
