Eorlsblade

An old title for a vassal or knight that is sworn to an Eorl and chosen to champion them in judicial contests, hunt down outlaws and protect the Eorl and the lands that belong to them. While no common executioners, the position does require a certain inurement to blood and death. The Eorlsblade is almost always the finest blade in the Eorl's service although competing for the title is not mandatory and many landed knights do not partake since the position requires one to be at the beck and call of the Eorl.
