Wyvern
At A Glance
The Wyvern hails from old Elder beast-stock and has been a plague upon civilized lands ever since their departure. While not common, as they seem to possess a stubborn cunning and avoid the lands of Man, they are nonetheless drawn to the easy meat such locations offer to them.
Basic Information
Biological Traits
Wyverns possess sharp, piercing teeth and jaws. Their hide is heavy and appears partially scaled although the degree of this scaling varies from Wyvern to Wyvern. They have fleshy wings that allow them flight although it is said that they are lazy fliers and take advantage of the winds and weather to propel them in search of their next meal. The Wyvern's tail is controlled instinctually and bears a jagged barb at the end of it which is said to contain a fearsome venom.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Wyverns are strictly carnivores and subsist on the meat of other creatures or their own species. They are indiscriminate hunters when hungry but are, at times, possessed of a malevolence that causes them to seek out intelligent prey.

Average Intelligence
Wyverns are rumored to possess some intelligence although it often manifests itself in a cunning cruelty when it comes to its prey. No wyvern has been known to speak unlike the Dragons which it resembles to the ignorant.
Civilization and Culture
History
The Wyvern is a creature of the Dark Elder and was bred in great swarms to darken the skies under their rule. They were utilized as mounts by some of the Elder and their minions. Since the departure of the Elder, the Wyverns of the Continent have grown wild and focus primarily on survival. Little is known of the creatures beside their bestial cruelty and voracious appetites.
