The Deep History

The Deep History refers simply to events that took place before the Coming of the Gods over 2 millennia ago. The Deep Histories are commonly spoken of as if there were a single written work that records these events, but in fact, no such work exists, and it is best described as an overarching branch of academia concerning this period.

The extent of the Deep History is tied to the history of the Selestean Star System itself. It is unclear if there was ever a time period before the creation or development of sentient beings or if intelligent life was created or transplanted at the same time that the Empyrean Universe was formed by the mysterious Demiurge. At the very least, the oldest artifacts found on Ora show evidence of intelligence.

Scholars disagree on the finer points but the general consensus is that the universe is at least 30,000 years old and has always contained sentient life. However, there is ample evidence of evolution and extinction of various species throughout the histories, including ancient cultures obliterated by varying calamities.

The Deep History of Ora is a tapestry of epochs, shaped by countless tales and epic conflicts, none more legendary than the Divinity Wars an eons-spanning struggle between the celestial and fiendish forces. This epic conflict unfolded over thousands of years, reshaping the very fabric of the world.

Across Ora, kingdoms rose and fell under the influence of celestial and fiendish alliances. Powerful artifacts, forged in the crucible of these wars, hold secrets and untold magic to this day. The Divinity Wars finally came to an end with The Planar Expulsion, and a fragile equilibrium persists in Ora's present, where celestial and fiendish powers often dwell in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to influence The Substantial.
